Education

“To the illuminated mind, the whole world burns and sparkles with light”

Ralph Waldo Emerson

This page is intended to help teachers in Swindon, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire understand how Inner Flame can help the development of your students. Click here for details of our interactive workshops .

Do any of your students need help:

  • Finding their direction or purpose?
  • Managing their emotions?
  • Building relationships?
  • Boosting their self belief and confidence?

Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL)

Everything Inner Flame does is closely related to SEAL. Our residential course is centred on the individual. We believe that starting with a person-centred approach will make the difference between young people being told they should focus on education, jobs, etc, and working things out for themselves. This will then result in increased motivation to whatever they commit to doing.

Personal development and Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)

We can offer support to schools in teaching the skills and personal development elements of PSHE and within the general curriculum for years 9-13. This is currently available for schools and colleges in Swindon, Mid/North Wiltshire and South Gloucestershire. We deliver fun, interactive seminars, from 30 minutes, to groups of up to 150 students.

At an initial meeting, we can discuss how best to support the work the school is already doing in this area and to negotiate the most effective use of our input. Please call or email us in the first instance.

Fire Me Up! and your students

Our residential course, Fire Me Up!, can help your students to focus more clearly on what they want in life and how they can most effectively work towards this. This will often result in greater focus on educational outcomes – because they can see the relevance of what they’re doing now to what they want to achieve and be in the future. The course is particularly suitable for young people who:
  • lack a sense of direction or purpose in their life
  • want or need to change something, but don’t know how
  • wish to develop skills or confidence to reach their potential
The student’s own decision to participate in the course is of paramount importance. If you would like to recommend a student for the course please suggest that they contact us, visit the website for participants www.firemeup.org.uk (currently under construction), or, if they prefer, we will call them. Please ensure you have parental consent before providing any contact details.
All our contact staff have enhanced CRB clearance.
To minimise disruption, our residential courses run during school holidays.

Can we work with a whole year group?

Yes, we offer interactive workshops (click here) and can offer short sessions for assemblies. Our residential course Fire Me Up! is not suitable for complete year or tutor groups or large groups of friends, because our approach involves:
  • taking young people away from their peer group,
  • helping them to understand what/who influences them and how,
  • allowing them time and space to step back and think for themselves.
This can be an emotional journey for some, so we will usually separate friends into different breakout groups. We want them to feel secure and unthreatened in opening up, knowing that information shared is confidential.
Please contact us with any enquiries.
