Before working with Inner Flame, Brandon admits that he wasn’t in a great place. “I was doing nothing other than hanging out with my friends, and I’d been in some trouble with the police. However when I was 16, I decided that I wanted to make a positive change in life and attempt to join the Army.” As such, Brandon began regularly training to increase his fitness levels. “Since starting training I now regularly exercise both cardio and strength, and my fitness has increased massively.”

During his training, Brandon additionally heard of the SHINE Programme that we were running here at Inner Flame and decided to enrol. This was a one-week course to scrub up on skills to prepare for the work place. From here, Brandon progressed into the Swindon Prince’s Trust Team Programme which began in May.

“I was nervous at first, especially because I was by far the youngest on the programme” says Brandon. “However I found that I quickly settled in and became a real part of the team.” Throughout the initial weeks of having Brandon on the course we watched his personality grow and he now brings the highest amount of energy he can to the programme every day.

At the end of June, the time finally came for Brandon to attend his Army Assessment. Whilst 40 people attended this assessment, only 5 were selected to go forward – of which Brandon was one. “I was really pleased to make the final cut” says Brandon. “I start official training in September and can’t wait. I’m counting down the days!”

Brandon is extremely proud of his achievements, and we are delighted to see how far he has come on his journey with Inner Flame. Brandon hopes that through being in the Army he can travel the world, and we have every belief that he will achieve this dream. We’re pleased to have been a part of Brandon’s progression and wish him every success in the military.
